All commercial vehicles must have a Certificate of Roadworthiness.  To obtain this the vehicle must pass a Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Test (Formally known as the DOE test).  Vehicles must be tested annually.  The first test is due on the anniversary of its first registration.  Test certificates are valid until the anniversary of the last test or for a period of 12 months if tested before the due date.  Vehicles can be tested up to 4 weeks before the due date and still recive a cert valid until the anniversary of the last test (i.e. up to 13 months)   

We test both:

Light Goods Vehicles (LGV): A LGV has a Design Gross Vehicle Weight of not exceeding 3,500 kg.

Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV): A HGV has a Design Gross Vehicle Weight exceeding 3,500 kg or more, Large Public Service Vehicle (Buses and Hackneys over 8 Passenger Seats), and Ambulances. 

Motor Caravans: Vehicles registered as a Motor Caravan on the VLC both over and under 3,500kg GVW. 

Testing is carried out at our Clonmel and Waterford workshops.  Testing is by advanced booking only, to make an appointment please contat the workshop of your choice (see below).  To avoid delays please book in all Re-Tests also.

Both test centres now accept online bookings.

All persons presenting a vehicle for test must present a valid form of Photo ID (Passport or Driving licence).  You dont have to be the registered owner to present a vehicle for test.
